Head of ATM - Virtual Centre
The Head of Air Traffic Management – Virtual Centre ensures the operational performance of the Air Traffic Services being delivered in the Swiss Upper Airspace. This includes managing an organization of 340 people in the Area Control Centers (ACCs) in Zurich and Geneva and a budget of 77.5 MCHF. The Head of Air Traffic Management – Virtual Centre reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) / Executive Board Member of Skyguide.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Air Traffic Services in the Swiss Upper Airspace:
- Ensure the operational performance of the Air Traffic Services being delivered in the Swiss Upper Airspace.
- Full managerial responsibility of the Air Traffic Management – Virtual Centre (OV) organization including safety accountabilities.
- Virtual Centre (VC) touchdown:
- Further develop the overall design of the Virtual Centre model in relation to the VC touchdown program, enabling the realization of the vision of a flexible Swiss wide Airspace for the Swiss Upper Airspace.
- Further harmonize operational practices between ACC East and West.
- Finance:
- Plan and set the budget in agreement with the COO and ensure the activities of the division remain within the forecasted budget.
- Quality Management:
- Manage corporate process management procedures and ensure continuous improvements.
- Ensure that all Air Traffic Services operational procedures applicable within the division are documented and applied in accordance with the relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Support audits within the unit and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Safety Management:
- Ensure that safety priority, and the principles adopted to secure it, are made explicit to all levels of staff within the division.
- Ensure adherence within the division to the Skyguide safety management system as well as appropriate safety performance.
YOUR PROFILE:
- Minimum 10 years' experience in an air navigation service provider environment.
- Preferably Air Traffic Controller background.
- Fluent in English, French and German.
- Technical affinity.
- Strong leadership and willingness to lead and empower others.

- People management: communications, teamwork, development of employees and conflict management.
- Performance management: analytical and conceptual thinking, problem-solving, focused on results and client oriented.
